Aerial Ballet

LP (Item 53330) RCA, 1968 — Condition: Very Good+
Beautiful early work from the great Harry Nilsson – and exactly the kind of record that set him apart right from the start! The tunes are playful, wonderful, and very quirky – yet still sung with this sense of earnestness that sets Nilsson apart from most of the rest of his generation – almost the passion of a singer/songwriter, but with an offbeat quality that always has Harry giving us a sly wink just when things are getting too serious! The great George Tipton handled the arrangements – with a perfect flair to match the mood of the music – and titles include "Mr Thinker", "Bath", "One", "Little Cowboy", "Good Old Desk", "Mr Richland's Favorite Song", and an early version of "Everybody's Talkin".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Mid 70s black label pressing. Cover has splitting on the spine & bottom seam, light spotty ring wear, aging.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Harry
RCA, 1969. Very Good+ Gatefold
A wonderful early album by one of the great oddball songwriters of the last forty years! The Harry album is certainly the bridge between Nilsson's two previous wildly bombastic LPs, and the slightly more subdued material that popped up on the Schmilsson and later records. Harry runs the gamut ... LP, Vinyl record album

Son Of Schmilsson
RCA, 1972. Very Good+ Gatefold
One of the wilder sets from Nillsson – careening from lovely piano pop with romantic vocals, to spaced out, good humored potty mouth excess – near honky tonk, to fuzzy pop rock – if you like Nilsson at his most unhinged, this is a great one! It's a stunner, actually – with ... LP, Vinyl record album

Nilsson Schmilsson
RCA, 1971. Near Mint-
One of Nilsson's best ever albums – with a more streamlined overall sound than some of his wildly eclectic earlier LPs – really putting a tight focus on both his vocal and songwriting genius! One of greatest moments of genius by pop vocals eccentric Harry Nilsson – the classic early 70s "story" album The Point – perhaps is most imaginative work! The Point is a weird tale of a kid whose head was differently shaped than the rest of his townsfolk (hey, we're not ... LP, Vinyl record album

One of the highest-concept of all 70s Kinks album – a dark exploration of fame and the price of success, done as a mini-rock opera starring Norman & The Starmaker! One of our favorite David Bowie albums ever!
