This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
One of our favorite Kenny Burrell albums – and a record with a much deeper feel than lots of his other work! Kenny cut this album with John Coltrane in 1958 – and the session's a real standout in both of their careers at the time – Kenny's, for being a well-crafted, highly-focused ... LP, Vinyl record album
70's 2-fer that brings together 2 of Jackie McLean's classic bop albums for Prestige – Lights Out and 4, 5, & 6. The groups include Donald Byrd, Hank Mobley, Elmo Hope, and Mal Waldron. The tracks are longish, and McLean's tone is very raw, much rawer than on some of his Blue Note ... LP, Vinyl record album
A 60s version of Miles' classic Dig album – repackaged as "Diggin" to make it fit with other sides from those years, like Cookin, Relaxin, etc. The album's about as classic as you can get from Miles' early years – and a startlingly great record that features Sonny Rollins on ... LP, Vinyl record album
Great early stuff by Stitt – originally issued on 78 rpm sides by Prestige, but collected here in LP format with better notes! The sessions feature one session with Bud Powell on piano and Max Roach on drums, and another set with John Lewis on piano, JJ Johnson on trombone, and Roach again ... LP, Vinyl record album
A well-titled set – in that it's got Oscar's piano in a fairly loose, soulfully relaxed setting with Sam Jones on bass and Bob Durham on drums. The album was recorded by MPS wizard Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer in his own home – and it's an excellent example of the label's scene at its ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great horn-heavy session from Hammond giant Don Patterson – a record that features alto and tenor from both Charles McPherson and Sonny Stitt – plus great work from regular trio members Pat Martino on guitar and Billy James on drums! The music has the wonderful sense of flow that ... LP, Vinyl record album
A groundbreaking album from Rollins, largely for the extended track "Tenor Madness", which runs on for 13 minutes, and features him and Coltrane blowing head to head – redefining the sound of the tenor sax in jazz through the course of that amazing track! Backing is by the Red ... LP, Vinyl record album
Classic set of European recordings – made by Dolphy in 1961, before the fateful 1964 European tour that would later claim his life. The group features Swedish piano giant Bent Axen, plus a rhythm section that includes Erik Moseholm on bass and Jorn Elniff on drums. Like most Dolphy ... LP, Vinyl record album
This is the kind of battle we like to see! Three heavy tenors – Nelson, King, and Jimmy Forrest – come head to head in a relaxed set of tunes cut in that Prestige blowing session mode, but tweaked with a bit more tightness, in the style of some of the label's emerging soul jazz sides ... LP, Vinyl record album
Swing session with small group backing by Billy Strayhorn, Jimmy Woode, Sonny Greer, and Clark Terry – and which features Johnny's warm tones soloing nicely on comfortable standards. All of side one is a "ballad medley", with a very Creamy sound, and titles that include "But ... LP, Vinyl record album
Donald Byrd's last Blue Note album with fusion genius Larry Mizell – and a doozy! The record builds off the style of previous Byrd/Mizell outings – like Places & Spaces, Street Lady, and Black Byrd – mixing together a similar blend of heavy rhythms, keyboards, and sweet funky ...
