A really lovely set from Geoff Keezer – light and lyrical one minute, then ringing out with powerfully strong piano lines the next! There's a power here that really caught us by surprise – as Keezer takes off with majestic command of the keys on many of the set's numbers – one that comes across in waves of sound that almost recall Mulgrew Miller, but which also have the sonic ferocity of Stanley Cowell at his best. Yet at other times, there's a gentle, almost bell-like quality to the piano on the album – one that matches the forceful runs with introspective playing – creating a perfect balance that further deepens the overall sense of the set.
