Used Vinyl Grades
Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for
the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-")
the grading for the vinyl.
If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws,
these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that
since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with
the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records
are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible

to listen through them and note how they play.
The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
A great little album by Bud – simple, clean, understated, and as strong a document of his powers on alto and flute as you'll ever find! The mid 50s session features Bud with a quartet that includes Claude Williamson on piano, Chuck Flores on drums, and Don Prell on bass – and the ... LP, Vinyl record album
Original 10" LP featuring the great alto player amidst a lineup that includes 3 west coast trombonists, and a west coast rhythm section with Claude Williamson, Joe Mondragon, and Shelly Manne. Bob Cooper did the arrangements, and the sound's got that nice measured feel that he gets, but with ... LP, Vinyl record album
Monster groovers! This late 60s compilation brings together some of the best early work by organist Billy Larkin, and his amazing Delegates trio! Plus, some of the tracks feature some excellent sax work by the legendary Clifford Scott – best known to the world for his 50s work with Bill ... LP, Vinyl record album
Nice live session that features Groove on a competing organ to the classic Hammond B-3 – the Hammond X-77. The sound is pretty much the same, though, despite the album's tag as a showcase for the instrument. The album is, though, a great live set featuring Groove smokin' along on tracks ... Groovy set of soul jazz organ tracks that has Groove playing with a large-ish group that includes George Freeman, Tom Scott, Anthony Ortega, Wilton Felder, and Paul Humphrey. The set's not totally hard and funky, but it's got a nice soulful swinging groove, with a tight LA 60s sound to it. ... LP, Vinyl record album
A wonderfully exotic set – thanks to unusual piano phrasing from Freddie Gambrell and hip reed lines from Paul Horn – plus percussion from Ray Mosca and Armando Peraza, bass from Ben Tucker, and guitar from Dempsey Wright! LP, Vinyl record album
A surprisingly modern little record – despite an old-timey title, cover image, and track list! Charlie Mariano and Jerry Dodgion work here to open up some older chestnuts from many years back – recasting familiar tunes as surprisingly great vehicles for jazz improvisation, in a way ... An undisputed 70s soul jazz classic – and arguably the best album that Doug Carn ever cut for the Black Jazz label! The set is a masterpiece of spiritual jazz – with Carn on keyboards setting up the groove, and wife Jean singing some incredible vocals – very different than her ... LP, Vinyl record album
We totally dig this album! Studio drummer Panama Francis leads a tight little octet through a number of short jazzy cuts with hard steppers groove. Included are laid-back groovin' versions of "Hi Fly", "Killer Joe", and "Jeannine". Dud Bascomb, Billy Butler, and the ... LP, Vinyl record album
