Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

In & Out Of Love
Concord, 1998. Used
A relatively recent set from Patti Austin, but a great one too – an album that has her working in warmly jazzy arrangements that are much more restrained than her soul work of a few years before! There's a relaxed, easygoing feel to the set – one that's somewhat smooth, as you might ... CD
GRP, 1990. Used
Warm jazzy soul from Patti Austin – a record that still holds strongly in the sound she pioneered with GRP Records in earlier years, proof that Austin was one of the leading lights of the label during its classic years! There's a few tinnier keyboards here than a decade ago, but there's ... CD

With tracks by Heatwave, Earth, Wind & Fire, Isley Brothers, Johnnie Taylor, and others. CD
Verve, 2006. Used
Gladys Knight pays tribute to a range of singers who came before her – Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and others – all the while earning our respect for her new inflections of these classics! The style here is less "torch revival" than you'd expect – ... CD

Earth Wind & Fire

Spirit (expanded edition)
Columbia, 1976. Used
A big hit for the group – and a great album of smooth funky soul! Spirit is a perfect example of the way that Earth Wind & Fire could tighten things up, yet still keep them real – holding onto the deeply spiritual side that first made them great – but also focusing their ... CD

Yep Roc, Mid 1960s. Used
If you never went to Skippy White's record store in Boston, you really missed a hell of a shop – a surprisingly great outlet for rare and underground soul, located way up in New England – and a place that was giving the world wonderful music over the course of many decades! Back in the ... CD

Music from The Five Kings, Lemme B Good, The Duprees, The Dreamlovers, Lou Martino, The Levons, The Blue Sonnets, The Pussycats , Johnny Cabott, Kenny Rankin, Johnny Cabott, and more - 25 tracks in all. CD
Arista (Japan), 1980. Used
Classy later soul from Aretha Franklin – a set that's free from some of the too-commercial modes of other 80s work, but which still pushes the envelope nicely from her years at Atlantic! Production is both by Arif Mardin and Chuck Jackson – the former one of Franklin's best ... CD
Honest Jons (UK), Late 80s. Used
Unity Sounds was one of the top, if not the top sound system in London throughout the 80s, and like so many Jamaican greats, went on to start cutting their own rhythms. In the post Jammy's era, this meant stripped down digital beats – round, bouncing basslines and tinny Casio drums, the ... CD
