Banging The Wall

LP (Item 529970) Mercury, 1985 — Condition: Very Good

...

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Bar-Kays

Too Hot To Stop
Mercury, 1976. Near Mint-
A pivotal album from The Bar-Kays – a key post-Stax set, but one that's still very firmly grounded in Memphis funk! The groove definitely shows a bit more polish than before – the same sort of shift the Ohio Players made after moving to Mercury Records – but as with the Players ... LP, Vinyl record album

Bohannon

Phase II
Mercury, 1977. Very Good+
A nice disco record from Hamilton Bohannon. The album mainly contains uptempo dance numbers but there are a few slower songs like "Daddy's Little Son" – a dedication to his son whose picture is on the cover of the album. The other tracks are "Andrea", "But What Is A ... LP, Vinyl record album

Aura

Aura
Mercury, Mid 70s. Very Good Gatefold
Is this the same group that went onto become Aurra and record disco records for Salsoul? We don't think so, but folks tell it that it is. Whatever the case, though, the record's a great batch of funky rock tracks, with some really hard groovers that crossover to a funky soul market – ... LP, Vinyl record album
Mercury, 1977. Very Good+
Brilliant 70s work by The Dells – and an album that has the group reinventing themselves wonderfully, by moving over to Philly and recording with Norman Harris! As he did with so many other artists at the time, Harris took the group firmly into the clubs with a soaring Sigma sort of groove ... LP, Vinyl record album
Mercury, 1979. Very Good+
A sweet groover from Esther Phillips – done in a style that's much more club-oriented than before, but which we find ourselves liking quite a lot! Given that Esther had explored other modes quite thoroughly on other 60s and 70s sessions, the change here is actually a nice one – and the ... LP, Vinyl record album
Mercury, 1968. Very Good- Gatefold
A super tripped-out blend of rock, funk, and soul – easily one of Buddy Miles' most mindblowing albums – and a classic that never lets up at all! Buddy's leading the whole group on drums – really kicking things large from behind the kit – while the rest of the group jams in ... LP, Vinyl record album

Central Line

Choice
Mercury, 1984. Very Good+
Bass-heavy soul from Central Line – very much in the Kleeer mode, although perhaps with more funk and less harmony vocals. The bass pedals and keyboards are in full effect here – and the vocals get dramatic at times just to keep up with them. Titles include "Man At The Top", ... LP, Vinyl record album

Exuma

Exuma
Mercury, 1970. Very Good Gatefold
A landmark first album from Exuma – one of a handful of early 70s classics that really worked hard to break down musical genres! At some level, the set's got a Caribbean feel, but at others it's quite funky – a great mix of Exuma's Bahamian roots and some of the headier sounds that ... LP, Vinyl record album

Heaven & Earth

Fantasy
Mercury, 1979. Very Good
A crowning moment from the Chicago scene of the late 70s – the second Mercury album from Heaven & Earth, and a stunner all the way through! The set's an undisputed groover right from the start – thanks to the massive arrangements from the great Floyd Morris – an artist who ... LP, Vinyl record album
Dakar, 1970. Very Good-
The second album from Chicago soul legend Tyrone Davis – and every bit as wonderful as his first! Like that set, this one bounces along on a wave of well cast Chisoul arrangements – penned by Tom Washington and Willie Henderson, with a great mix of the sweet and the rough – ...
