Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Jazz Haus (Germany), 1977. Used
A great live side of Gerry Mulligan that we hardly ever get to hear – not vintage material from the 50s west coast, but a cool set of cuts from that time in the 70s when Mulligan was really opening up his sound – working here on both familiar baritone and fresh soprano sax, in a combo ... CD

Gerry Mulligan

Jeru
Columbia/Legacy, 1962. Used
A pretty great little album – and very different than Gerry Mulligan's regular sides from the time! The session was originally produced as part of the sessions for the short-lived Jazztime label in the early 60s – and was produced by Dave Bailey with a soulful undercurrent that's quite ... CD

Little Big Horn
GRP, 1983. Used
As close as Gerry Mulligan ever came to cutting an album of funky jazz – an electric-tinged set recorded with arrangements by Dave Grusin, who also plays electric piano on the set, which makes for an odd, but surprisingly pleasing contrast with Gerry's baritone. Tracks are long with smooth ... CD

Pacific Jazz, 1954. Used
Volume 2 of a classic live album by Gerry – expanded to include the entire concert recorded in December of 1954 in San Diego. The group's a great one – and features Zoot Sims, Bob Brookmeyer, Larry Bunker, Red Mitchell, and Jon Eardley – and this version is expanded a lot from ... CD
Pacific Jazz, Early 50s. Used 2 CDs
A massive 2CD set that collects together 42 early recordings by the legendary Gerry Mulligan Quartet with Chet Baker – the complete work of that group for Pacific Jazz, apart from their pairing with Lee Konitz! The set is really overflowing with work, and includes both 10" and 12" ... CD
Philips/Mercury, 1963. Used
A really nice one from Gerry – an oft-overlooked mid 60s session, one that has him working with a sextet that includes Jim Hall, Art Farmer, and Bob Brookmeyer, in addition to usual Mulligan rhythm-mates Bill Crow and Dave Bailey. There's a nice soulful bottom to the set, and stronger ... CD
