This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
One of the excellent albums cut by the short-lived Bee Hive label – an imprint formed at the end of the 70s, with a strong dedication to recording in the classic soul jazz style of the 60s! This album features stunning work by pianist Ronnie Mathews – a wonderful talent who's barely ... LP, Vinyl record album
Baritone madness, and a lot more too – a set that's full of surprises, and which may well be one of the most striking records on the Beehive label from Chicago! The date not only features twin terrors on baritone sax – Nick Brignola and Pepper Adams, both blowing at the height of their ... LP, Vinyl record album
A treasure trove of rare jazz recordings – all material that was cut during the short run of the Beehive label – that excellent Chicago imprint that was based along the ideals of recordings first put in place by Blue Note and Prestige! Beehive also grabbed a lot of players who worked ... LP, Vinyl record album
Nice session – one with a date that might make you a bit skeptical, but with a sound that's still very much in the pocket, thanks to good handling of the effort by the Bee Hive records team! Curtis blows here with a quintet that includes Sal Nistico, Walter Bishop Jr, Sam Jones, and Freddie ... LP, Vinyl record album
Although this one wasn't recorded during Ronnie's classic 60s years, it's still a pretty darn great record, with a strident spiritual soul jazz sound, and a wonderful set of compositions. Mathews was a fantastic player, and mixed McCoy Tyner stridentness with Horace Parlan funkiness – in a ... LP, Vinyl record album
An album issued under the name of pianist Roland Hanna, but a set that really showcases his work with the excellent New York Jazz Quartet – a totally hip combo who issued some records on Enja around the same period! This date's a Chicago one – as you'd guess by the title – ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great tribute to the Chicago jazz scene of years back – a reunion of important players from the 50s, recorded in the laidback jam session style you'd expect to hear in an older club! The set was lovingly put together by pianist Norman Simmons, who arranged the tracks on the record – ... LP, Vinyl record album
Important mid 60s work from Ornette – and one of the few recordings of this format to see larger release at the time! The set captures Ornette in a much freer style than heard on his Atlantic recordings from a few years before – paying alto, violin, and trumpet, in a trio with David ... LP, Vinyl record album
A nice one from the days when Groove was playing with guitarist George Freeman! The core of the tracks on here feature a trio of Holmes, Freeman, and drummer Billy Jackson – and the trio knows how to cook nice and nicely, especially on the original cut "The Walrus", a groovy number ... LP, Vinyl record album
Smooth funky fusion from Terumasa Hino – an artist who's moving past the more freewheeling sounds of his early years – into a New York groove that really fits the taxi image on the cover! The set has Hino taking a page from some of his more electric contemporaries on the Japanese scene ... LP, Vinyl record album
