A landmark record from one of the greatest underground vocal groups of the 60s! The Hesitations take the theme to "Born Free", and through some magical soul, turn it into a Civil Rights-era anthem of freedom and pride. The rest of the record is equally great – with a good mixture of uptempo tracks done in a bouncy northern groove, handled with production and arrangements by Teacho Wiltshire, and a pretty raw down-home edge overall! Titles include "Let's Groove", "Overworked & Underpaid", "Love Is Everywhere", "Don't Go", "Push A Little Harder", "Without Your Love", and "We Can Do It". (White label promo. Cover has a radio station tracklist sticker, some wear, and an ink stamp on the back.)  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Heaven & Earth
Mercury, 1978. Very Good
Excellent work from this smooth Chicago vocal group! The album may well be the best the group ever recorded – and it features some stellar ballad work produced with a nice spacey tone, almost in a Rose Royce mellow mode – by Jerry Butler's Fountain Productions team and by Clarence ... Percussion Explosion!
Alston, 1978. Good+
The percussion-heavy soul gem from Herman Kelly & Life – recorded in both Brazil & Miami – and awash with killer drum work all the way through! The album's a key part of the Miami sound especially – and really shows the way that city's 70s funk scene used congas heavily ... LP, Vinyl record album

New Soul Of Jimmy McCracklin
Imperial, Mid 60s. Very Good
Raw hard soul by this great bluesy soul singer. Jimmy produced and arranged the whole thing, and he lays down a great batch of originals like "Come On Home", "Just Let Me Cry", "Self Experience", and "Thinking Back". Also with a cover of "These Boots ... LP, Vinyl record album
