Little Milton's Greatest Hits

Excellent 60s work from Little Milton – one of the few Chicago bluesmen of the 60s we actually dig! Milton always had a good deal of soul in his blues, and on these standout 60s tracks he really takes off – bridging worlds nicely, and crossing over to audiences who were digging sounds from Tyrone Davis and Johnnie Taylor at the same time. A fair bit of the tracks here have a nice funky undercurrent, and production was handled by Gene Barge, Billie Davis, and Calvin Carter – all with strong Chi-soul pedigrees. Titles include "Just A Little Bit", "I Play Dirty", "I Feel So Bad", "Grits Ain't Groceries", and "We're Gonna Make It".  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

Big Bad Bo
Chess/Get On Down, 1974. Used
Heavy funk from the legendary Bo Diddley – one of his amazing comeback albums from the early 70s for Chess, all of which are plenty darn great! For this set, Bo's traded in the scratchy guitar mode of his classic work for a sweeter, tighter funk-based sound – a groove that's supported ... CD

Can't Get No Grindin
Chess/Traffic, 1973. Used
Muddy Waters can't get no grinding – but that's hardly a problem, given the strength of this sweet early 70s set! The album marks Muddy's return to more basic Chicago blues after his funky electric period on Chess – but the set's still got some of the trippier touches of a few years ... CD

Sykes plays piano and sings, and the bluesy group that backs him up includes King Curtis on tenor. The overall sound is similar to other jazzy blues albums on Prestige – with sort of a rootsy R&B sound, filtered through more of a 60s soul jazz sensibility. Titles include "Jailbait&q ... CD
