Wayne Henderson produced, and the group's filled with west coast jazz funk masters, like Ronnie Laws, Joe Sample, Spider Webb, Arthur Adams, and others. Lots of nice ensemble harmonies, and a good jazzy soul sound that's in keeping with Henderson's At-Home imprint. Tracks include "Oh Baby", "There She Goes Again", "Spend It On Love", "Tree Of Love", "Checkin It Out", and "I Love You So Much". What You Need is probably Side Effect's best LP for Fantasy, if not their best of the 70s!
