Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Prince

Black Album
Warner, 1987. Used
Recorded in 1987, but never officially released until 1994, when Prince was trying to get out of his Warners contract. Prince's attempt to return to his more funky side after flirting with more straight pop songs was a Holy Grail amongst collectors for a time, and though we don't like it as much ... CD
Polydor (UK), 1970s. Used
A wonderful collection of Polydor work by the amazing Roy Ayers – a set that was originally done for the British market, and arguably has a much hipper ear for the tunes than any American sets! Given the depths of Roy's genius, it's impossible for the package to be completely comprehensive ... CD

Al Green

Absolute Best
Hi Records, 1970s. Used 2 CDs
What is there to say about Al Green that hasn't been said already? The man's a genius – with a sweetly seductive style that few other singers could ever hope to match. And now that he's back in action again, his older work is getting more attention than ever – the occasion for this ... CD
Capitol, Early 80s. Used
After issuing a strangely silly remix project of George Clinton's Capitol work from the early 80s, the folks at EMI have finally corrected their mistake by putting together this straight set of Clinton's jammers for the label – all offered in their original versions! The set's not prime P-Fun ... CD
Stax, 1969/Early 70s. Used
The near-complete Stax recordings of Ollie & The Nightingales – one of the few important vocal groups on the classic Memphis scene! The arrangements are classic Stax – handled by Isaac Hayes, David Porter, and Booker T – and The Nightingales sing with a sound that's both ... CD

Jill Scott

Who Is Jill Scott?
Epic/Hidden Beach, 2000. Used
Get ready to discover a fantastic new soul music talent! Jill Scott's the best thing we've heard in years – and she's a perfect example of the killer NuSoul trends that have been forged in the past few years by artists like D'Angelo, Mshell N'degocello, or N'Dambe (but Jill doesn't have an ... CD

Elmore James/John Brim

Whose Muddy Shoes (with bonus track)
Chess, 1950s. Used
A great entry in the Chess Heritage Series at the end of the 60s – one that features rare 50s Chicago recordings by Elmore James, plus some even more obscure sides by lesser-known singer John Brim! James' style is well known, and well-executed here – rough and raw, but with a good ... CD
Le Smoke Disque, Late 60s/1970s. Used
