History Of Rhythm & Blues Vol 6 – On Broadway 1963/1964

LP (Item 524089) Atlantic, Mid 60s — Condition: Sealed

Classic work by Barbara Lewis, Doris Troy, Chris Kenner, Nat Kendrick & The Swans, Rufus Thomas, Carla Thomas, Don Covay, Otis Redding, and Solomon Burke!  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Gene Page

Hot City
Atlantic, 1974. Very Good
An excellent album of Barry White-styled instrumentals – put together by Barry's right hand man Gene Page, and produced by Barry himself! Atlantic, 1976. Sealed
An album in the kind of "between the hits" years for The Spinners featuring lead vocalist Phillipe Wynne. The sound here isn't as right-on or soaringly confident as in earlier years – but there are some nice moments. Titles include "You're All I Need In Life", "Toni ... LP, Vinyl record album

Hilltak/Atlantic, 1979. Very Good+
A free soul classic from the Dalton & Dubarri team – smooth and sweet soul with a nice slick finish, and a real talent for coming up with a catchy hook! Roberta Flack

First Take
Atlantic, 1969. Very Good+
What can we say? We've heard this one a million times, it sold over a million copies – but it's still incredible!
