❔
Not experienced? Well, this album will help push you over the top – as it's done for decades of listeners from the heyday of young Jimi Hendrix all the way up to the present! The set's a classic through and through – a blueprint not just for the genius of Hendrix, but for generations of guitar heroes to come – as you might expect with a lineup that includes "Hey Joe", "Manic Depression", "The Wind Cries Mary", "Fire", "Third Stone From The Sun", "Are You Experienced", and "Purple Haze".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Orange & tan label stereo pressing. Cover has light ring wear, name in pen on the back.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Jimi Hendrix Experience

Electric Ladyland (original cover)
Track, 1968. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
A true classic by Jimi with the original Experience lineup – the third of three straight up masterpiece LPs to come out in just over a year's time by the group! You could call the leftfield astral effects in the mix experimental if you had to – innovations in the studio with echo, that ... LP, Vinyl record album

Jimi Hendrix

Hendrix In The West
Reprise, Late 60s. Near Mint- Gatefold
The great live compilation of classic Hendrix – pulled from incendiary performances at Isle Of Wight in 1970 and other benchmark west coast gigs from '68 to '70! It's as fine of a snapshot of Jimi as you could really hope for, as it features numbers that showcase his fiery blues psych side ... LP, Vinyl record album

Kinks

Kinda Kinks
Reprise, 1965. Near Mint-
It's hard to go wrong with The Kinks at this point in their career – a time when even at their most basic, the group had something special that set them apart from most of their contemporaries! There's a definite bluesy undercurrent to most of the music here – an aspect that Ray Davies ... LP, Vinyl record album

Frank Zappa/Mothers Of Invention

Uncle Meat
Reprise/Bizarre, 1969. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
An amazing movie in sound – supposedly music (and more) that was going to be used in a film project, issued to the public while Zappa was trying to raise money for production! The album's one of the most tripped-out studio efforts to date from the group – loads of overdubbing, and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Reprise, 1972. Very Good+
Post Pearls Before Swine work from Tom Rapp – a record that has him stepping out as a solo act, but with a feel that's quite similar to his recordings with the group! Mothers Of Invention (Frank Zappa)

Weasels Ripped My Flesh
Bizarre/Reprise, 1970. Very Good+
A silly cover and title, but one of the most powerful records so far from Frank Zappa – a set that focuses the mad energy of The Mothers into a groove that really packs a lot of punch! The lineup here is filled with key talents – including Don Preston on organ and electronics, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Frank Zappa

Waka/Jawaka
Bizarre/Reprise, 1972. Very Good+
Wonderful stuff from Frank Zappa – a set that still has all the freak-out feel of the early years, yet which also shows a real maturation in his arrangement styles as well! Columbia, 1964. Very Good-
Bob Dylan's fourth record, and close runner up to Freewheelin' as the masterpiece of this early stage of his career.
