Anita Kerr Performs Wonders

LP (Item 521819) Century, 1976 — Condition: Sealed
Gatefold

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Capitol, Mid 60s. Very Good+
Mrs Miller was a strange denizen of the bottom level of the music industry food chain – and her stock-in-trade was performing 60s pop tunes with a shrill fuddy-duddy style that was instantly recognizable, and forever annoyingly great! This record is less of a "best of" than just a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Hoagy Carmichael

Hoagy Sings Carmichael
Pacific Jazz, 1957. Near Mint-
Beautiful work from the legendary Hoagy Carmichael – and one of the few albums to feature him singing his own work! Hoagy's name is one that you're more likely to see in the songwriting credits than in the artist slot for a record – but he's actually got a wonderful voice, one that's ... LP, Vinyl record album

Four-Um

Just Us
Libra 7, 1972. Sealed
A cool quartet with some very groovy vocals – a combo who seem to take some great inspiration from Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66 – as well as other hip vocal groups of the 60s! The lineup features one gal and three guys – often with the gal singer in the lead, supported by warm ... LP, Vinyl record album

Now I'm A Woman
Capitol, Early 70s. Near Mint-
A really unique moment for Nancy – one in which she leaves the LA sound behind, and gets some special treatment from the young Philly crew of the Gamble & Huff studios! Columbia, Late 50s. Very Good
One of the swinginest albums by the Hi Lo's, thanks to some great backing from Marty Paich and his Dek-Tette – the same group used to back Mel Torme and other west coast singers on other great vocal sessions of the time! Marty brings a bit more groove to the set than usual – pushing ... LP, Vinyl record album

Nancy Wilson

Lush Life
Capitol, Late 60s. Near Mint-
Genius work from Nancy Wilson – the kind of Capitol Records gem that was partly jazz, partly soul, and very much in that special territory that made Wilson one of the most mature, sophisticated singers of the 60s! The record's got Nancy working through some material with bluer currents, ... LP, Vinyl record album
Philips, Late 60s. Near Mint-
Classic work from Nina Simone – and an album that definitely lives up to its title! Nina Simone certainly emerged as the high priestess of soul during her monumental stretch for Philips Records in the 60s – as she moved way past jazz, way past some of the folk she'd begun tapping into, ... Dells

Musical Menu
Cadet, 1969. Very Good Gatefold
One of The Dells' best albums from this period – and a real Cadet studios masterpiece, thanks to some incredibly groovy arrangements by Charles Stepney!
