Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

Silver Lining – The Songs Of Jerome Kern
Columbia, 2015. Used
One of the best jazz recordings in years from the legendary Tony Bennett – a set that has the singer paired with the piano talents of Bill Charlap, in a mode that recalls Bennett's 70s classics with Bill Evans! Like those records, there's almost an equal focus here between piano and vocals ... CD
Rushing Lullabies
Columbia/Sony, Late 50s. Used
A killer album by Jimmy – and certainly one of his best later records! The album includes the amazing track "Russian Lullaby", done in a totally swinging jazz version with Ray Bryant, Buddy Tate, and Sir Charles Thompson on organ. The track's incredible, and still sends shivers ... CD

Columbia, 1957. Used
A great Tony Bennett LP – very different than others from the time (or any time!) in that the format pairs the master vocalist with the "who's who" of drummers and percussionists of the late 50s – including Art Blakey, Jo Jones, Candido, and Sabu. The sound is as majestic and ... CD
Movie Song Album
Columbia, 1966. Used
Great Johnny Mandel arrangements – and titles include "Song From The Oscar", "Girl Talk", "The Gentle Rain", "Emily", "The Pawnbroker", "Samba De Orfeu", and "The Second Time Around". CD
Cloud 7
Columbia, 1955. Used
One of Tony Bennett's greatest jazz sessions – a sublime mid 50s outing that features small combo backing from guitarist Chuck Wayne! The setting is extremely spare for the time – a real contrast from the higher drama of some of Tony's 50s chart hits, and the kind of a record that ... CD

Brazilian Romance
Columbia, 1987. Used
One of the last great records ever made by Sarah Vaughan – a really solid session of Brazilian tunes, one that's produced by Sergio Mendes, arranged by Dori Caymmi, and which features guest vocals by Milton Nascimento! The general approach is west coast mellow – as the group features ... CD

How can we even begin to describe the genius of Lambert Hendricks and Ross? The group was a jazz vocal supergroup that merged three talents that had already made a big name in the bebop vocalese field – Dave Lambert, Jon Hendricks, and the lovely Annie Ross – and the project was an ... CD
Open Fire Two Guitars
Columbia, 1958. Used
Sublime early work from Johnny Mathis – a session that really shows the jazzy charm he had at the start! The setting is as spare as you might guess from the title – no large orchestra, and instead just two guitars (played by Tony Mottola and Al Caiola) supporting Johnny's vocals in a ... CD
