Born Tuff

LP (Item 521326) Portrait, 1983 — Condition: Near Mint-

(Includes the printed inner sleeve and promo bios. Cover has a promo stamp.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Epic/Ice, 1983. Very Good+
An unlikely contender to the throne of king of electro, this early 80s effort from Eddie Grant helps to prop him up there quite nicely. Heavy synth driven grooves bubble along nicely with that crisp Linn Drum sound, and though this album benefited from some wider pop appeal, there's more than a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Peter Tosh

Mystic Man
Rolling Stones, 1979. Very Good+
A great late 70s album from former Wailer Tosh, to our ears a good bit better than Bush Doctor, the set that had preceded it. We're guessing that has a lot to do with the smoking Word, Sound & Power band Tosh recruited to deliver the chugging riddims underneath his militant lyrics, which ... LP, Vinyl record album

We're not entirely certain of the precise connection to Pablo here, as this set is credited as Augustus Pablo Presents, but it's excellent all the same – and there is some tasty knob twirling courtesy of the master King Tubby!
