Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

A great Motown album from Chris Clark – one of the few white singers ever signed to the label, and a great vocalist at that! Chris has a sound that's quite unique – halfway between Motown soul and some of the soul-inspired pop of the time – particularly that of UK singers like ... CD

Motown (Japan), 1983. Used
One of the strangest acts to come from Motown in the early 80s – and almost more of a new wave record than a soul one! The standout hit here is the title track "Somebody's Watching Me" – an odd electro tune that has Rockwell speaking/singing these paranoid lyrics with a vague ... CD

Marvin Gaye

You're The Man
Motown, 1972. Used
A mindblowing collection of work from Marvin Gaye – tracks recorded in the space right after What's Going On – many of which were never issued at the time! All this incredible material from 1972 has been brought together to create a stunning double-length album – one that ... CD
Motown/Reel Music, 1973. Used
A heavy heavy set from Gloria Jones – a record that features some killer Paul Riser arrangements that are right up there with the deepest Motown work of the early 70s! Jones' groove is always a bit different than most of her contemporaries – not the usual Motown bag, and really far-reac ... CD

Songs In The Key Of Life
Motown, 1976. Used 2 CDs
A sweet little double CD – one that had some folks saying that Stevie should have stayed away from the "2LP syndrome", but for us a real treasure with lots of hidden gems. Besides the hits "Isn't She Lovely" and "Sir Duke", which were more than enough to carry ... CD
Motown, 1994. Used
A stone classic from Zhane – a duo who maybe never had the longest life in soul music, but who made a massive impact with this gem from the 90s! The record was part of a new urban generation that was grounded both in hip hop production and deeper soul modes – territory maybe opened up ... CD
Motown/Spectrum (UK), 1960s. Used
It's no surprise that the music of The Beatles crossed over big with all music listeners of the 60s – and this great set documents that huge influence the Beatles' original tunes had on Motown! The set features 17 tracks – from the early sweet days of Motown, to the later slightly-psych ... CD

Anita Baker

Songstress
Beverly Glen/Elektra, 1983. Used
From the female singer in the obscure group Chapter 8, Anita went onto become one of the biggest selling soul music acts during the 80s – and this album's her first effort as a solo act. The record's a smooth sophisticated batch of soul tunes, with lots of nice jazzy touches, and a classy ... CD
