I'm Your Baby Tonight

LP (Item 521121) Arista, 1990 — Condition: Very Good

(Includes the printed inner sleeve.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Aretha Franklin

Jump To It
Arista, 1982. Very Good+
Aretha's grooving sweetly on a record that's produced by Luther Vandross – and a damn strong one, too! Aretha wasn't the first, or the last classic soul singer to embrace the modern sounds of the early 80s, but relatively few outshined their younger peers as brilliantly as Aretha does here. ... Ray Parker Jr

Chartbusters
Arista, 1985. Near Mint-
A very fitting title – not just because of Ray's big fame for the theme of the film Ghostbusters, but also because Parker was really hitting the charts at the time! The album's something of a compilation – one that features a few moments from earlier in Parker's career, mixed with a ... LP, Vinyl record album
Arista, 1980. Near Mint-
Surprisingly wonderful later work from Mandrill – really stretching out in their style, but in a warmly soulful way! By this point in their career, Mandrill had come a long way from the proto-spiritual/Latin/funk sound of earlier days – but surprisingly, they'd actually matured into a ... LP, Vinyl record album
Soul Train, 1977. Sealed
The Whispers are really riding high on the Soul Train here – perfectly set up with production help from the team of Don Cornelius and Dick Griffey – who really help the group make the best of their harmonies, both on mellow cuts and upbeat groovers! The latter cuts are what The ... LP, Vinyl record album

Jesse Belvin

But Not Forgotten
United, Early 50s. Very Good+
Jesse was one of the greats – and he would have been as huge as Sam Cooke, Nat King Cole, or Ray Charles, had he not died a tragic early death in the late 50s. This album collects some of his great polished R&B tracks from the early and mid 50s, recorded in LA, and a perfect progression ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ray Charles

Great Ray Charles
Atlantic, Late 50s. Sealed
More of a jazz album than the early vocal singles of Ray Charles – but a set that definitely is as great as promised by the title! Ray's in the lead on piano – taking some strong solos, and showing us what a sensitive phraseologist he can be when needed – really showcasing that ... LP, Vinyl record album

Walter Jackson

Feeling Good
Chi Sound, 1976. Very Good+
The first of six "comeback" albums that this great Chicago soul singer cut during his second wave of recording during the late 70s! Walter had originally done some amazing work with the great Carl Davis at the Okeh label during the mid 60s – and this album marks a return to their ... LP, Vinyl record album

Cortijo Y Su Combo Con Ismael Rivera

Bueno, Y Que?
Rumba, Early 60s. Very Good-
Damn hard to go wrong with Cortijo at this point in his career – as records like this are razor-sharp, all the way through! The cooker features excellent vocals from a young Ismael Rivera – who's already got this transcendent quality that points towards larger Latin dimensions to come ... LP, Vinyl record album

Herbie Hancock

Crossings
Warner, 1971. Very Good- Gatefold
Herbie Hancock further expands his cosmic vision in this groundbreaking album of free-flowing fusiony tracks – a record that really steps up his range of keyboards, mixing in both acoustic and electric pianos, mellotron, and even a bit of spacey moog from the legendary Patrick Gleeson! The ... LP, Vinyl record album

Herbie Hancock

Man-Child
Columbia, 1975. Very Good-
Funky mid 70s Herbie Hancock – one his funkiest albums of the era! Herbie plays a host of cool keyboards – like Fender Rhodes, Arp, and clavinet – and he's joined by a group that includes just about all of the Headhunters – including Paul Jackson on bass and Mike Clarke on ...
