Solo

LP (Item 520219) ECM, 1979 — Condition: Near Mint-

Includes the side long "Selva Amazonica/Pau Rolou", "Ano Zero", "Frevo", "Salvador" and "Ciranda Nordestina".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(US pressing, including the insert.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

ECM, 1977. Near Mint-
Spare European work from Egberto Gismonti – a set that's different than his fuller earlier work from Brazil, but still pretty compelling overall! Flora Purim

Every Day Every Night
Warner, 1978. Near Mint- Gatefold
A beautifully soulful record from Flora Purim – still awash with touches from her Brazilian roots, but also done with a great 70s LA sound! Milton Nascimento

Yauarete
CBS, 1988. Near Mint-
A tightly produced effort from the late 80s – with a sound that's certainly more commercial than some of Milton's earlier albums, but which is still graced by some great vocals and occasional soulful moments. Verve, 1966. Very Good Gatefold
Bossa nova meets organ jazz – a real classic from the great Walter Wanderley, recorded right on the heels of his famous Rain Forest album for Verve! Luiz Arruda Paes

Brasil Dia E Noite Vol 3
Odeon (Brazil), 1969. Near Mint-
An excellent set of groovy big band tunes from Brazilian maestro Luiz Arruda Paes! The album's the third in his "day and night" series, and is arguably the best of the bunch – largely because it's from the end of the 60s, and has some really nice touches thrown into the jazzy ... Andre Penazzi

Orgao/Balanco/Percussao
Som Maior (Brazil), Mid 60s. Very Good
One of the best records ever by this lost Brazilian organist! The album features Penazzi's organ backed by only drums and percussion – and Andre handles the bass chores very nicely with his pedals, while riffing away on the keys in a firey style that reminds us of the best work by Ed Lincoln. ... A killer set of grooves from vibes legend Johnny Lytle – one of the first and one of the few to ever combine vibes with Hammond organ – in this case, the work of Milt Harris on the keys!
