Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Greyboy

Soul Mosaic
Ubiquity, 2004. Used
One of the most unified albums we've ever heard from Greyboy – an excellent little set that perfectly bridges his two loves of funk and hip hop! The core style is in the hip hop-infused mode of earlier years – with lots of programming and scratches by Greyboy himself – but there's ... CD

Al Supersonic & The Teenagers

It's Alright
Unique (Germany), 2013. Used
Al Supersonic has a mighty nice vocal approach on this retro-soul set – a style that's a bit looser and maybe more personal than some other singers in recent years – a quality that gives the the whole thing a pretty sweet edge! Al's a bit less "perfect" than some of the deep ... CD

Will Sessions

Elmatic Instrumentals
Fat Beats, 2011. Used
The instrumentals created to compliment Elzhi of Slum Village's tribute to Nas's monumental Illmatic – made by Detroit funk combo Will Sessions! This is an homage that works, really, really well. The Will Sessions backdrops – doing it up recognizably, but with their own touches – ... CD

Budos Band

Budos Band
Daptone, 2005. Used
A brilliant mix of Afro and deep funk styles – the kind of grooves you'd get if Fela Kuti hung out with The Meters in the late 60s! Budos Band recall the genius of 90s deep funk combo The Daktaris – and have a similar love of older African rhythms touched by a newer indie funk sound ... CD

Budos Band

Budos Band III
Daptone, 2010. Used
A great third album from Staten Island instrumental funk titans The Budos Band – who've brought eclectic inspiration all along and have always colored from a much broader palette of styles than most of their peers – going even further this time out and delivering their best yet! The ... CD

Naughty By Nature

Naughty By Nature
Tommy Boy, 1991. Used
Their first LP and a high water mark for the Flavor Unit. The thing that still gets us open on this debut is that Naughty By Nature managed to bridge the gap between commercially viable, radio friendly hip hop and street credibility, plus had tight enough rhymes and mic skills to please even the ... CD
Casablanca, 1976. Used
An oft-overlooked gem from Parliament – released during the year 1976, and sometimes hidden between monster LPs like Funkentelechy and Mothership Connection – but every bit as great as those two classics! The album's got that tightened-up P-Funk sound that was working so perfectly at ... CD
Prestige/OJC, 1957. Used
A fantastic early trio album from pianist Tommy Flanagan – a set that was originally recorded overseas by Metronome Records, hence the title – and part of a long tradition of Tommy making some of his best music for non-US labels! Flanagan's already a hell of a craftsman here on the ... CD
