A definite electric dream for guitarist John McLaughlin – especially given that he's got Carlos Santana working here on the set! The album's very much in the best spirit of McLaughlin's late 70s work – still fusion, and still fairly electric – but also a nice change from his more jamming roots, thanks to the inclusion of some key acoustic elements from time to time. There's a nice sense of spaciousness here that shows lessons learned from McLaughlin's more meditative years – elements that clearly set the record apart from some of the too-slick or overdone fusion of the time.
