Later Than You Think/Do You Wanta Go

7-inch (Item 519447) Chess, Mid 60s — Condition: Very Good+
(Vinyl has a drill hole. Labels have some wear and light flaking.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Sister James/Clair De Lune (In Jazz)
A&M, 1973. Very Good+
"Sister James" is a nice 70s crime jazz instrumental, with a good tenor solo by Nino, and production that's better than any of his other records from the time. "Clair De Lune" is a jazzy take on Debussy's famous composition. 7-inch, Vinyl record
Atco, Early 70s. Very Good+
A great cut from Dionne's harder sister! Dee Dee's cover of "Suspicious Minds" is pretty nice, but the really great cut here is "I'm Glad" – as it begins with a firm horn blast over drumbreaks, then rolls into a warm soul vocal that's very much in a Sweet Inspirations ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Dee Dee Warwick

Locked In Your Love/Alfie
Mercury, Late 60s. Very Good+
Dee Dee takes a page from her sisters book in her cover of "Alfie", done as a sweet slow ballad. The real gem here is "Locked In Your Love", a driving 60s soul number with a jaunty groove and a nice trick guitar part on the hook! There's a great mixture of sweet and hard in ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
