❔

(Cover has light wear and an ink stamp.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Lionel Hampton

Please Sunrise
Brunswick, 1972. Sealed
Sweet vibes from the great Lionel Hampton – sounding different here than both his early swing years, and his later small combo modes – and working in a style that has his instrument in the lead over hip Chicago soul backings from the team at Brunswick Records! The album's got a nicely ... LP, Vinyl record album

Audio Fidelity, 1957. Near Mint-
Very cool work from Lionel Hampton – quite a change from his Verve material of the 50s, and an unusual sort of date for the Audio Fidelity label! As the title implies, Hampton not only plays his usual vibes, but a bit of drums and piano as well – and he's working in a cool smaller ... LP, Vinyl record album

Soul Of Eddie Harris
Up Front, Early 60s/Late 60s. Very Good+
No real dates or notes on the cover, but the album appears to include some of Eddie's excellent early work for the Vee Jay label – a wonderful blend of soul jazz and slightly experimental phrasing, and the kind of groundbreaking material that got Eddie noticed very early on in his career. ... A great album from Shirley Scott – with some excellent arrangements by Gary McFarland! Dexter Gordon

Gettin' Around
Blue Note, Mid 60s. Very Good+
A really unusual album for Dexter Gordon – one that has him working in a quintet with vibes by Bobby Hutcherson! Hutcherson's sound really transforms the session, giving it a shimmering middleground that disperses the dominance that Gordon's tenor usually has – and creating a warm, ...
