✈

A wealth of unreleased tracks by some of our favorite recent groups – and a beautiful album of tunes with a solid jazzy feel! The vibe here is right up the Compost Records alley – current European acts with a respect for all things classic, working in a modern idiom that expands older jazzy riffs into a bouquet of new musical tones, colors, and shades. About half the tracks on the set have never been released before, and the other half that have are equally enjoyable numbers pulled from hard to find import releases that you might have missed anyway! Titles include "Eternal" by Brilliant Corner, "April In Vein" by Swell Session, "Paperkites" by Odd Couple, "Hear My" by Ernesto's, "Gonky Boa" by Joi, "Striladans" by Kahuun, "Brothers & Sisters" by Universal Funk, "Tombo In 7/4" by A Bossa Electrica, "Searchin For Love" by Tony Svensson Project, "Kolor Fokus" by Butti 49, and "Tonight" by Koop.  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Disc has some marks but plays fine.)

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Discoveries
Dorado (UK), 1997. Used
A fantastic album of spacey keyboards, and one of the most abstract albums from the team of Matt Cooper and Andreas Allen. The tracks have the band's usual slow funky feel (which we love!), but there's also a very strong focus on electronic keys – played in a bubbling 70s style that sounds ... CD

A dreamy dreamy little record – and one of our favorite discoveries in recent months! These guys are a cool little combo that uses vibes, piano, sax, and percussion to spin out grooves in a breezy 60s mode – not really mod, but more influenced by European jazz, a bit of bossa, and just ... CD

Hot Sauce
Chilli Funk (UK), 1998. Used

East West (Japan), 2002. Used 2 CDs
Mad new work from Towa Tei – a stuttering blend of electro, two-step, and the kind of mixmaster production we've come to love from him! The beats are quite quirky – electronic and quickly stepping – and the range of influences at work get jumbled up even more than on some of his ... CD

Mr Scruff

Trouser Jazz
Ninja Tune (UK), 2002. Used
Another whimsical jazzy beat party from Mr Scruff. Like earlier efforts, this one's filled with off-kilter and playful (but still groovy) samples and synth parts over nice breaks and funky drum patterns, with vocals on a handful of the cuts. Definitely from the leftfield of the spectrum, but with ... CD

East West (UK), 2004. Used
A really beautiful little record with its roots in Brazil, but a sound that's also got plenty of cosmic London sensibilities! The groove here is wonderful – a blend of more traditional Brazilian jazz and rhythms with some slight modern dancefloor touches – all filtered together with a ... CD
