Intuition

LP (Item 516774) Fantasy, 1975 — Condition: Near Mint-

A great pairing, heard perfectly here – on titles that include "Show Type Tune", "Invitation", "Blue Serge", "Are You All The Things", and "Falling Grace".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(French pressing. Cover has an unglued bottom seam.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Fantasy, 1965. Very Good+
One of the most ambitious recordings ever undertaken by Vince Guaraldi – a set recorded at San Francisco's Grace Cathedral, and one that augments Vince's usual trio format with a choir of voices – in a way that gives the whole album a wonderfully spiritual sound! The approach is a bit ... LP, Vinyl record album

Cal Tjader

Primo
Fantasy, 1973. Very Good+
A really hard-hitting set from Cal Tjader – and one that's done with a good dose of 60s Latin Soul as well! The album was recorded in the early 70s, but it's really got a late 60s New York flavor – thanks to arrangers Charlie Palmieri and Tito Puente – who cook up a groove that's ... LP, Vinyl record album

Cal Tjader

Tjader
Fantasy, Late 60s. Very Good+
An excellent album from legendary vibist Cal Tjader – and one of his truly electric albums! Stanley Turrentine

Pieces Of Dreams
Fantasy, 1974. Very Good+ Gatefold
A 70s soulful classic from the mighty Stanley Turrentine! Stan's not the bad "Mister T" on this set – he's more in a smooth, mellow mode – blowing over some nice soulful arrangements by Gene Page, ones that take the CTI funk approach, add in some strings, and create a bit of ... Cal Tjader

Live & Direct
Fantasy, 1959. Sealed
Great live work from Cal Tjader – one of a number of sets but at his home turf of the Blackhawk Nightclub in San Francisco! The album's nicely laidback, with tracks that stretch out a bit more than Tjader's studio work for Fantasy Records – often hitting a slight Latin groove at times, ... LP, Vinyl record album
Fantasy, Late 50s. Very Good
A killer record from the late 50s – and one that hints at all the sides Stan would take in later years: his bossa sides, his vibes quartet with Gary Burton, and the playful lyricism of his recordings with Chick Corea. The set was recorded in San Francisco, when Stan had that great bassist ... LP, Vinyl record album

Crisis
Impulse, 1969. Very Good+ Gatefold
A record that bursts out with a sound that definitely lives up to its striking title – as Ornette Coleman explores the new frontiers of experimental jazz with one of his great groups from the end of the 60s! The album's got the intensity of the best ESP sessions of the period, but also shows ... LP, Vinyl record album

Cal Tjader

Sona Libre
Verve, 1963. Very Good
Excellent Verve album that Cal recorded with the great Clare Fischer on organ and piano.
