Michael Jackson – The Remix Suite

CD

✈

A breezy MJ remix project – featuring material from the 70s Motown years remixed by club, hip hop, pop and soul producers bringing eclectic atmosphere to some classic tunes – and most importantly, leaving Michael and the J5 vocals, and those huge, unforgettable hooks to lead the way! The remixers include The Neptunes, Dallas Austin,, David Morales, Salaam Remi, Frankie Knuckles and others – and more often than not the sound brings in a contemporary spacey dancefloor vibe, without getting in the way of the original groove. Titles include "Skywriter" (Stargate rmx), "Never Can Say Goodbye" (Neptunes remx), "Where You Are" (Dallas Austin rmx), "Dancing Machine" (Polow rmx), "Forever Came Today (Frankie Knuckles Late Night Antics rmx), "Dancing Machine" (Steve Aoki rmx), "Ben" (Akon rmx) and more. 12 tracks in all.  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Tell Me A Lie
Motown/Reel Music, 1982. Used
A rare set from legendary deep soul diva Betty Lavette – recorded as a one-off for Motown in the early 80s, but done in a deep soul style that has plenty of 70s touches! The feel here is almost in the Malaco mode – southern soul, but with some more sophisticated modern touches – ... CD
Motown, 1972. Used
On the one hand, our jazz snob side wonders why Diana Ross would be picked to star as Billie Holiday, but on the other, it makes perfect sense, as this soundtrack to the film was made during the early 70s, when she was at the top of her career, and one of the highest profile female soul singers. ... Song For You
Motown, 1975. Used

A beautiful early Motown session from Marvin Gaye – with a title that really hints at the open emotion of his later work! The set's one of a few that has Marvin singing standards and jazz tunes – but it's done in a mellow late night way that really sparkles with a lot of soul – ... CD

One of Bill Withers' greatest albums of the 70s – a set that has hip stepping off the acoustic sound of his Sussex records, into a warm and jazzy style that we like every bit as much as his earlier work! The album's got a wonderfully sophisticated jazzy vibe, and includes the excellent cut ... CD
