We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used
for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with,
so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.
Used Vinyl Grades
Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for
the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-")
the grading for the vinyl.
If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws,
these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that
since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with
the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records
are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible
for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt
to listen through them and note how they play.
The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Classic 80's electro funk, with a couple tracks mixed by Jellybean Benitez. Toss on "Space Cowboy", "We Are the Jonzun Crew" or "Pack Jam" and pull out the linoleum, or if you're a low budget b-boy like some of us were back in the day, the flattened-out refrigerator ... LP, Vinyl record album

Tight hip hop from and for the purists – the return of late 90s supergroup Polyrhythm Addicts – DJ Spinna, Mr Complex, Shabaam Sahdeeq and new member Tiye Phoenix bringing the female game! We have to give it up to Ice T. Aside from being one of the cornerstones of west coast and gangsta rap, he's probably the only rapper to successfully make the transition to acting (sorry Cube. . .). In fact, we'd rather watch him on TV than hear any of his later albums or singles. But we're ... LP, Vinyl record album

Nice!!! This is the tightest full length effort yet by the extended Family Tree collective. Tone B Nimble, Capital D, Iomos Marad, Greenweedz, Rita J, Daily Plannet and the rest have reined in their sound for this one – a very strong set of classically-trained hip hop that should take ... A lost piece of the hip hop history puzzle, sort of a mid-school early 90s release, from back when Def Jam was still taking some risks putting out underground hip hop. Bosco Money rhymes over crisp beats and smooth loops from Sam Sever. A high point in the period we look back on as a sort of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Alright, here's a VERY solid full length from the magnificent beat-butchering Philly Mountain Brother DJ Chops – maybe the best producer-to-headliner LP we'll hear all year! (OK, so Kanye's is just as good, but lets face it, K doesn't really need our little plug now does he?) Consistency is ... LP, Vinyl record album
A really strong hip hop producer/MC duo project pairing L'Orange and Jeremiah Jae – all the more impressive knowing that Jae is solid producer himself, but puts that aside to focus solely on rhymes here! Organized as 5-part narrative, it's flavored by crackling cinematic soul beatcraft and ... LP, Vinyl record album
