Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Warner/Rhino, Early 70s. Used
... CD
Philadelphia International, 1975. Used
A great sense of righteousness and groove – the key mix that made the O'Jays so great back in the day – and which really helped put the Philly International enterprise on the map! The album's miles from the group's simple harmony soul roots – even though those were pretty darn ... CD

Main Ingredient

I Just Wanna Love You
Polydor, 1989. Used
An overlooked gem from the Main Ingredient – recording far from their classic years of the 70s, but still sounding pretty darn great! The group are down to a duo – but the sound is still strong, thanks to some sweet and mellow production, and tight vocal arrangements by The Knight Crew ... CD

Donny Hathaway

Donny Hathaway Collection
Atlantic, 1970s. Used
Pure genius from Donny Hathaway – a 70s soul giant who burned brightly for just a few years, then was taken away from us all too soon! In our book, Donny is every bit a giant of the decade as Marvin Gaye or Curtis Mayfield – and you'll hear work here that easily matches the best of ... CD
Stax, 1968/1970. Used
Two beautiful albums by one of the greatest soul groups of all time! The Soul Children were a wonderful Memphis vocal group – with a two parts female/two parts male vocal style that just sounded incredible. All the members of the group were great singers, and the overall sound was a mixture ... CD

Booker T & The MGs

Very Best Of Booker T & The MGs
Rhino/Stax, 1960s. Used
What can we say? Booker T and crew are always tops in our book – and this album's as strong a batch of their classic singles as you'll ever find! Book's organ is the sound of a generation, and Steve Cropper's sinister vamping on guitar gives even the poppier tracks a hard edge that still ... CD
Rounder, 1983. Used
Otis Clay recorded live in Japan – working before a very appreciative audience, and hitting grooves that are right up there with his best 70s work on Hi Records! The sound is a bit looser than Hi – which is a nice change – and Clay's really in command on the set, leading the ... CD
Malaco, 1980s. Used
... CD
Capitol, Late 40s/Early 50s. Used 2 CDs
A great collection – filled with postwar jump blues and R&B – mostly from the Aladdin, Capitol, and Imperial labels! CD

Last Poets

Time Has Come
Mercury, Mid 90s. Used
The poets supposedly finally get their due on this one – working in a format that's pretty respective of their roots, and which tries very strongly to associate their styles with a hip hop approach. Production is very nice – almost up there with the best of new hip hop from Mercury at ... CD

Dave Brubeck

Time Out
Columbia, 1959. Used
Easily the crowning moment of genius for the legendary Dave Brubeck Quartet – the moment when all things came together magically, and the group somehow elevated themselves to a whole new level in jazz! At the time of the set, Brubeck, Paul Desmond, and the rest had already been making plenty ... CD

Weather Report

Weather Report (1982)
Columbia, 1982. Used
A self-titled early 80s set from Weather Report – not to be confused with the group's debut over a decade before – and one that still has key core members Wayne Shorter, Joe Zawinul, and Jaco Pastorius in place! Shorter's reeds seem even more angular than before – really chopping ... CD
