Cancao Do Amor Demais

CD (Item 512991) Festa (Brazil), 1958 — Condition: Used
$6.99 ...

CD

A beautiful early album by Elizete Cardoso – arguably one of the first bossa nova records ever, and a set that features some great early tracks penned by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius De Moraes! The record is a haunting showcase for the genius of Jobim and Vinicius, and it includes early recordings of many many tracks that have now become bossa standards – like "Chega De Saudade", "Outra Vez", "Modinha", "Janelas Abertas", and "Cancao Do Amor Demais". The orchestrations are beautiful – arranged by Jobim, who also plays piano – and featuring a bit of guitar from Joao Gilberto, amidst flute, trombone, trumpet, and a bit of strings. Elizete's voice is richer and more emotional than that of most of the later bossa divas – and the record is a key link in a number of Brazilian musical traditions!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Music Inside
Verve, 1990. Used
One of the few Joyce albums ever issued in the US – a breezy outing from the end of the 80s, recorded with a bit more jazz than usual, and a number of English-language lyrics that were clearly intended to help break her into a wider market! Joyce is still very much in a comfortable setting ... CD

A live album from Milton Nascimento, but a set that's got all the majesty of his studio work of the 70s – thanks to a core group that's really wonderful, and some larger orchestrations that must have taken up a fair bit of space on the stage! Nascimento's got that wonderfully expressive ... CD

Slight hints of gray mark the hair of Paulinho Da Viola on the cover – and they also underlie the maturity in the music that makes this set so great! Paulinho first gave us some excellent samba sounds in the 70s – but at the end of the following decade, he's still a master of care and ... CD
