Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Keith Jarrett

Mysteries
Impulse, 1975. Used
Dark and moody work from Keith Jarrett – a record that builds strongly off his ensemble feeling of the Impulse years, but which also seems to carry a bit more of the introspective vibe he was building up in some of his more stripped down solo recordings! The group's still a great one here ... CD

Keith Jarrett

Expectations
Columbia/Legacy, 1972. Used 2 CDs
A totally wonderful album from the young Keith Jarrett – and a set that's different than most of the pianist's other well-known modes – not his solo improvisations, not his successful trio material, and not even his more outside quartet modes of the 70s – but instead this ... CD

Keith Jarrett

Carnegie Hall Concert
ECM (Germany), 2006. Used 2 CDs
A great live set – with a long, multi-part improvisation at the start, then a few shorter encores – all solo! CD
ECM, 1973. Used 2 CDs
Sublime solo piano – from that early 70s moment when Keith Jarrett was not only finding a whole new voice for himself, but also creating a whole new format in music! The tracks here are all long, live, solo improvisations – played by Jarrett at a level that's unbridled, but never ... CD

Modern Jazz Quartet

European Concert
Atlantic/Label M, 1960. Used
A double-length live set from the legendary Modern Jazz Quartet – recorded in Scandinavia in 1960, almost as a summation of the group's growing genius in the 50s! The tunes are a mix of John Lewis and Milt Jackson originals, plus other songs all given the wonderful MJQ twist – ... CD

Modern Jazz Quartet

Complete Last Concert
Atlantic, 1974. Used 2 CDs
Not really the last concert ever from the Modern Jazz Quartet – but a set that seemed so at the time, given that the group went their separate ways for a number of years! The record's got the combo in really top form – very much back to the basics of their early time on Atlantic ... CD
Atlantic (UK), 1975/1976/1977/1978. Used 5 CDs
One of the few cats who could ever make us learn to love the violin in jazz – presented here in a host of classic 70s albums for Atlantic Records! By the time of these sides, Ponty had already been making some key sounds in the European and American scenes for a decade or more – yet ... CD

Gary Bartz

Red & Orange Poems
Atlantic, 1994. Used
Gary Bartz on alto saxophone – with Eddie Henderson on trumpet and flugelhorn, John Clark on french horn, Mulgrew Miller on piano, Dave Holland on bass, and Greg Bandy on drums. CD
Atlantic/East West, 1988. Used
A surprisingly great record from Milt Jackson – and we're saying that after being plenty darn suspicious about a record titled Be Bop recorded in the late 80s! The set has Jackson returning to the sound of his earliest roots – the boppish material he first cut for Blue Note as a leader ... CD
