Silk & Steel

LP (Item 510973) RCA, 1986 — Condition: Very Good
The bright-eyed, good natured pop soul of UK brothers & sisters group Five Star matures nicely on Silk & Steel – a set that's grooving with more grown up vibes than the first one, but still carrying on the sound for the most part. Nice, poppy synth soul and sweet lead and group backing vocals, plus a slow jam or 2. Titles include "Can't Wait Another Minute", "Find The Time", "Rain Or Shine", "If I Say Yes", "The Slightest Touch", "Don't You Know I Love It?" and more.  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(German pressing. Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has a hype sticker.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Luxury Of Life
RCA, 1985. Very Good
Nice mid 80s UK pop soul from Five Star – sweet family act that's kind of in the mode that's a bit of an unofficial British answer to the cheery family pop soul vibe of groups like DeBarge and New Edition at the time – and a sweet one! Sam Cooke

Hits Of The 50s
RCA, 1960. Very Good+
A classic set of soulful vocals – one in which Sam Cooke sings hits of the 50s (as you'd guess from the title) – but not necessarily his own hits, more a selection of work by other artists – all given a really unique spin by Sam! And while other soul artists occasionally faltered ... LP, Vinyl record album

Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band
RCA, 1976. Very Good+
One of the most creative club acts of the 70s – the mighty Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band! Before starting his Kid Creole & the Coconuts combo, August Darnell worked to great fame with Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band – kind of a campy, jazzy ensemble – one that ... LP, Vinyl record album

Gil Scott-Heron

Reflections
Arista, 1981. Very Good
A great little album that's often overshadowed by its hit – the 15 minute "B-Movie", which was sort of an overly-wrought protest piece about how the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980 was going to turn America into a bad b-movie. Not that that track's bad – although its ... LP, Vinyl record album
