Lady

LP (Item 51011) MCA, 1984 — Condition: Very Good+
Also available
One Way — Lady ... CD 13.99

An overlooked gem from the ever-strong years of One Way – that early 80s run when the group kept on putting out great records! The vibe's changed up a bit from before, but that's one of the things that makes One Way so great – that they were kind of an evolutionary act, always drawing the best from the members of the ensemble at the time – and keeping things dynamic so their sound kept growing along with their listeners! Kevin McCord's the main force here – writing, arranging, and producing most of the set – and giving things a groove that's tight, but never as commercial as other 80s soul acts were hitting at the time. Titles include "Don't Stop", "Mr Groove", "Dynomite", "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love", "Smile", and "If You Only Knew".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has light wear and a cutout notch.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A great batch of boogie from One Way – one of the few late 70s funky combos who were especially well suited to make the transition to 80s groove! MCA, 1980. Very Good+
The Dramatics hit an 80s groove mood here – and as on their clubbier sides from the end of the 70s, the vocals are still wonderful – and more than anything, the set's a strong soul-based set that still has the group at the top of their game! Ballads actually sparkle the best here ... LP, Vinyl record album
Don't Be Cruel
MCA, 1988. Very Good
Breakout brilliance from Bobby Brown – the album that really showed the world he could stand on his own strongly after leaving New Edition! Car Wash – Original Soundtrack
MCA, 1976. Very Good 2LP Gatefold
A solid bit of heavy funk – and one of the last strong-selling soundtracks of the blacksploitation era! An excellent set of 80s groove – produced here by Larry Blackmon, with a very Cameo-styled touch – under a title that definitely shows the big shift in the funk scene over to the west coast at the start of the 80s!
