A really kicking little set from the great Johnny Lytle – one of the best of his albums from later years, and a set that's got more than enough soul to live up to the image on the cover! Johnny's vibes are as great as always – they never seem to dim over the years – and the rest of the group have a solidly soulful approach that's almost classic in sound, but somewhat different than the approach that Lytle used on his records of the 60s. Rhythm is from the trio of Stan Hope on piano, Peter Weiss on bass, and Michael Carvin on drums – plus Sammy Figueroa on percussion – all of whom hit that stepping vibe that works well on Johnny's upbeat tunes, and a really laidback sound that's equally great on the mellow tunes. Houston Person's also in the group on tenor – and he produced the set with a really great sound overall, no overdone studio touches to ruin the music. All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.
