Nancy & Lee

LP (Item 5079) Reprise, 1968 — Condition: Very Good+
One of the weirdest, wildest pop albums of the 60s – maybe the crowning achievement of both Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood – two artists who'd worked together before, but never with an intensity this great! The record is overflowing with all the great touches you'd expect from Lee – that sense of spacious production, all-adult performance, and deep-tinged vocals that are a perfect counterpoint for the lighter style of Nancy – almost as if he's continuing to urge her to adulthood over the course of the set – which he certainly does through the sensuality of the performance! The album features the insanely wonderful "Some Velvet Morning" – a pop duet unlike anything you've ever heard – plus Hazlewood tunes "Summer Wine", "Sand", "Lady Bird", "I've Been Down So Long", and "Sundown Sundown" – but even the remakes are stunning, and include "Storybook Children", "Jackson", and "You've Lost That Lovin Feeling".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Stereo orange and tan label pressing. Cover has light wear.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Frank Sinatra

Sinatra & Company
Reprise, 1971. Near Mint-
An excellent set – one of Sinatra's last great albums! Side one features more bossa material – with arrangements by Deodato, and a guest appearance by Jobim. The tracks have the floating easy groove of Sinatra's album with Jobim from earlier years – and there's some great ... LP, Vinyl record album

Frank Sinatra

September Of My Years
Reprise, 1965. Very Good+
A wonderfully mature album from Frank Sinatra – a set that has him coming to terms with his time in life, and expressing things with a beautiful quality that almost sets a whole new standard for his work! Morgana King

It's A Quiet Thing
Reprise, 1965. Near Mint-
A rich effort from Morgana King – the first of her rare Reprise LPs – and a record that shows incredible range and an ability to bring a heavy, textural mood to just about any kind of tune! Torrie Zito's arrangements on It's A Quiet Thing are lush, but, well, quietly so – and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Sarah Vaughan

Copacabana
Pablo, 1979. Very Good+
An excellent album of tunes recorded in Brazil – featuring a sweet mellow vibe that works very well with Sarah's vocals, done in a direction that we hardly expected her to take at this point! Most of the tracks have large arrangements with singers that start out the tracks over electric ... LP, Vinyl record album

Eddie Jefferson

Still On The Planet
Muse, 1976. Very Good+
Great later work from vocalist Eddie Jefferson! Although the title of this one might be read as a haunting premonition of Eddie's untimely early death, the grooves within show nothing of the tragedy that was to overtake him a few years later. Hard swingin' jazz vocal stuff, put together by one of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Cassandra Wilson

Glamoured
Blue Note, 2003. Sealed 2LP Gatefold
Don't let the title put you off, because Cassandra Wilson's sounding as soulful as ever – with none of the fluff that you might think from an album called "Glamoured"! The sound is mellow and laidback, with a group that includes Wilson on guitar, alongside a few other guitarists, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Leon Thomas

Full Circle
Flying Dutchman, 1973. Sealed Gatefold
The last album in Leon Thomas' classic run of albums for the Flying Dutchman label – and one of the most unique as well!
