For completists only! We always knew the folks at Motor Music were mad, but never this mad. Yet only beautiful madness could have led them to put out this insanely over-stuffed set of the complete works of one of the spookiest vocal groups of all time. Led by Gene Puerling of the Hi-Los, and recorded by the studio genius of MPS, the Singers Unlimited were a memorable group who managed to bring together jazz, easy listening, pop sounds, and even a bit of TV-jingle technique, in order to form a unique blend of harmony vocals that sounds like nothing else in the planet. Some of the stuff is cheesy, sure, but lots of it will blow your mind if you go in for the vocal group sound (as we do!) This set's got a massive 14 albums on 7 CDs, and it's packaged with a lavish booklet full of information, discographies, and essays on the band. We can't recommend this for everyone, but it's a stunning batch of material. And even though you do see some of their albums cheaply in the used record bins, this set contains a lot of stuff that you can never ever find. And as an additional bonus, the group is backed by folks like Clare Fischer, Art Van Damme, Oscar Peterson, Pat Williams, and others – and they also sing completely a cappella on 3 full albums! Wild.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

An obscure vocal jazz gem from the LA scene of the 50s – recorded for Atlantic, but done in a style that's a fair bit like the best work for Bethlehem or Mode at the time! Betty Bennett sings here with backings from Shorty Rogers on one side, and Andre Previn on the other – often in a ... CD

Maybe the grooviest collection of work we've ever seen from the lovely Nancy Sinatra – a set that features some of her hits, but also includes a lot more material that's much more obscure – and which shows that Nancy was a hell of a song stylist, far from the charts! The core of the ... CD
