Another Side of Bob Dylan

LP (Item 507642) Columbia, 1964 — Condition: Near Mint-

Bob's fourth record, and close runner up to Freewheelin' as the masterpiece of this early stage of his career. While the overly arch Times They Are A Changin' pretty much stood as the cornerstone of classifiable folk rock at the time, Another Side is just that. Dense, elliptical, and downright surreal at times, with some of the protesty stuff that made the media so happy & hungry, but much more layered and poetic. Another side is also much more reverent of and indebted to the Harry Smith field recordings that Bob studied so hard, the stuff that finally caught on with the general public in the early 90s. Titles include "Spanish Harlem Incident", "It Ain't Me Babe", "Ballad In Plain D", "Black Crow Blues", "I Don't Believe You", "Motorpsycho Nitemare", "To Ramona", "Chimes Of Freedom", "My Back Pages", and "I Shall Be Free No 10".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Stereo 360 Sound pressing – white text with 1AC/AB matrix. Cover has light wear and discoloration from age.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Early 60s. Very Good+
A mysterious record, with no cover art, no label, and just a hand-written title – but a set that features one side of great Dylan work with just vocals and guitar – very rough, and nicely bluesy! The second side has material that's more in a Basement Tapes mode, but might be later too. LP, Vinyl record album

Bob Dylan

Slow Train Coming
Columbia, 1979. Very Good+
The first album in Dylan's so-called "Christian Period", but it's not really the uber-dramatic departure from the "old" Dylan that it was treated as at the time – gospel soul backing vocals and testifying lyricism for sure, but it sounds more like gospel has come to Dylan ... LP, Vinyl record album

One of those amazing 70s albums from David Allan Coe – from a time when he could mix his rough and rowdy roots with a new sort of sensitivity – all without making either side of his spectrum seem forced at all! Prime classic Springsteen double album, circa 1980!
