Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Gary Bartz

West 42nd Street
Candid (UK), 1990. Used
Gary Bartz plays live at Birdland – and the results are quite different than both other famous albums at the club, and most of Gary's other work of the time! There's a tightly swinging feel to most of the set – a style that's more hardbop than we remember from Gary's roots, but which ... CD
Oyo Recordings, 1998. Used
Recent live material by Gary Bartz – and pretty darn nice! The tracks are performed by a quartet that includes Barney McAll on piano, Greg Bandy on drums, and Kenny Davis on bass – and the overall feel is similar to Bartz's early work as a leader on the albums Libra and Another Earth. ... CD
Atlantic/Jazz Beat (Spain), 1956/1958. Used

Billy Cobham

Spectrum
Atlantic/Rhino, 1973. Used
A monstrous bit of jazzy fusion from the 70s – and the record that really put drummer Billy Cobham on the map – virtually creating his own sort of space between jazz, funk, and prog – thanks to the help of an all star lineup too! Cobham is tremendous on drums – and is ... CD

2 70s groovers from Eddie! In The UK features Eddie with a number of London rock and beat group players – including Albert Lee and Jeff Beck on guitar, Chris Squire on bass, Tony Kaye on moog, Steve Winwood on electric piano, and Zoot Money also on piano. The set's not surprising, given the ... CD

Charles Lloyd

Forest Flower/Soundtrack
Atlantic/Rhino, 1966/1968. Used
A famous album – but for good reason! The set's something of a landmark in spiritual jazz from the 60s – and it features a classic live performance from Charles Lloyd, recorded at the Monterey Jazz Festival – almost as a distillation and popularization of ideas that were brewing ... CD
Atlantic, 1960. Used
Coltrane plays the blues, but in a way like nobody else – stepping off of the deeply soulful sound of his late Prestige years, and moving into even more open and exploratory space for Atlantic! The setting is bare bones and simple – and many of these numbers begin with the sort of ... CD
