His first album, and his best! After working as the silent talent on albums by David Bowie, Gregg Diamond, and others – Luther Vandross finally got the chance to cut an album on his own, and it's incredible! The record has a perfect sound – one that verges on disco, but never falls ... LP, Vinyl record album
Lots of musical adventures here – most of them in that tightly-romping style that made Dynasty so great back in the day – almost a fusion of older sweet group soul with some of the more bottom-driven modes forged by the Solar label! The title cut here is our favorite – a sweet ... LP, Vinyl record album
Classic LA G-funk, in the best Solar mode, and with a pronounced Cameo influence. The funk is still pretty strong, but the sound's a little smoother than on earlier albums. Tracks include "Real Love", "Untouchable", "So Let's Love", "Turn The Music Up", ... LP, Vinyl record album

A bomb! The title of this one says it all – a burning anthem of pride and power, issued in 1969, at the end of one of the most troubling decades in America. James answers all the Uncle Tom cries from his critics – and comes up with "Say It Loud", an instant chant that was ... LP, Vinyl record album
The wonderful debut album by the Sweet Inspirations for Atlantic – with the same sweet sound that they had backing Aretha Franklin on her classic recordings! The group was a huge backing boon for everyone from Aretha to Elvis, but their own albums were really great, too – an amazing ... LP, Vinyl record album
The second Arthur Conley album for Atlantic – and like the first, a record that really cooks with some great Otis Redding production! The sound and style is very similar to Otis' work for Stax during the 60s – but the album was recorded at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, with ... LP, Vinyl record album
An album that begins with an amazing break – and then rolls into a great batch of fuzzy guitar grooves! The set is one of the odder albums to be issued by Chess Records during its funk years – as American Gypsy were a Dutch band, recording in Holland, and the record was only licensed ... Curtis Mayfield, and a heck of a lot of greatness from the Chicago scene of the early 70s – music that comes from a rare TV special that also features guest appearances from Leroy Hutson, Jerry Butler, and Gene Chandler! Don't confuse this one with the 2LP Curtis Live set issued around the ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the best things to ever happen to The Persuaders – a wonderfully rich album that has the group still sparkling strongly, long after their early hits!
