A beautiful tribute to the genius of Roland Kirk – one that comes across with all the warmth and soulfulness of Kirk's classic recordings! 8 of the 9 tracks on the set are original compositions by Kirk – played by Turre in a style that recalls the brilliantly inventive and creatively playful genius of their original recordings – but which takes the tunes in a slightly different direction, as there's no Roland working triple saxes for the session. Instead, the horns are handled by James Carter on tenor and flute, Vincent Herring on alto and soprano, and Dave Valentin on flute on one track. Turre's trombone is wonderfully understated, but really gets the feel of the material – and the rhythm section's a strong one, with Mulgrew Miller, Buster Williams, and Winard Harper providing the loose soulful approach that graced Kirk's classic Mercury sessions. All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.
