$2.99 ...

CD

Mellow Isleys galore – that great side of the group's talents in the 70s! Although the Isley Brothers were always known for hitting a funky groove when they could, they were almost even better at mellower cuts – laidback numbers that let the group really work things over carefully, and open up with a soulful vibe that few of their contemporaries could match! Most of these tunes still have the guitar you'd know from the funky cuts – but it's played in a stretched-out way that's totally great – slinking in between the vocals and rhythms in a really wonderful way, almost making for an undercurrent of funk at points. Titles include "Hello It's Me", "Voyage To Atlantis", "For The Love Of You (parts 1 & 2)", "Groove With You", "Sensuality (parts 1 & 2)", "Footsteps In The Dark (parts 1 & 2)", "Between The Sheets", "I Once Had Your Love", "Hello It's Me", and "You Are Love".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Def Soul, 2006. Used
The Isleys sure aren't out to prevent teen pregnancy with the title of this set – but given the strength of the album, we can easily forgive them for any lack of social consciousness! In an era when countless young artists are copping the Isley groove of the 70s, the Brothers are back to ... CD
Philadelphia International/Legacy/Epic, 1970s. Used
A great collection of mellow tunes and ballads from the O'Jays – key proof that they had plenty to offer the world besides their better-remembered upbeat tunes for Philly International in the 70s! The cuts here are completely sublime – slow-stepping, night-tripping numbers that put the ... CD

Teena Marie

Epic, 1983. Used
Teena Marie steps out strongly on her own – really knocking it out of the park on this initial album for CBS – entirely written, arranged, and produced by Lady T! The grooves are as funky as before, but possibly have a leaner quality overall – a tighter 80s groove approach to the ... CD

Gregory Hines

Gregory Hines
Epic, 1988. Used
You may know Gregory Hines best as an actor and dancer – but he's also a surprisingly great soul singer, too – thanks to help here from Luther Vandross! Luther produced the set, wrote all the tunes, and also duets with Gregory on one track too – making the set a Vandross-stamped ... CD

Atlantic (Japan), 1987. Used
Miki Howard at the top of her game – just the sort of record that had her standing out as one of the best new vocalists in soul during the second half of the 80s – and one of the few who could draw on the classic styles of earlier divas like Patti Labelle or Phyllis Hyman! Like both of ... CD

Guy

Future
MCA/Uptown, 1990. Used
Teddy Riley's second LP with Guy, one of many groups he held the helm for, laying down the blueprint for New Jack Swing, the sound that would rule modern chart soul for years.
