Excellent collection of tracks from Salsoul's great Latin series from the mid 70's! Despite the "disco" in the title, most of the tracks on here are straight salsa, and the LP features tracks like "La Trompeta y La Flauta" by Cachao, "No Critiques" by Libre, "The ... LP, Vinyl record album
Killer early work by the Fania All Stars – caught live at the legendary Cheetah club, which was the heart of the New York salsa scene at the start of the 70s! The album is easily one of the best by the group – and features long tracks that really capture the jamming intensity that ... LP, Vinyl record album
A nice set of harder Latin material by Perez, recorded for RCA, and issued as a budget compilation on the Camden label. Don't let that stop you, though, because the record's got some nice groovers – like "Latino", "Silbando Mambo", "Mambo Universitario", and ... LP, Vinyl record album
Landmark work from Eddie Palmieri – a stunning performance by his Harlem River Drive band, recorded live before a very wild crowd at Sing Sing Prison! Nice stuff from Willie – maybe not as hard and funky as his early 70s work, but very nice in kind of a Latin Club mode, thanks to some great production by Wayne Henderson! Includes his classic take on "Always There" – which is a great dancefloor jazz jammer – plus ... LP, Vinyl record album

A soulful 70s set from Cheo Feliciano – cut-above salsa done in close collaboration with songwriter C Curet Alonso, who wrote most of the songs on the set! Bobby Valentin handles arrangements – and the groove here has that joyous, upbeat style of his own work at the time – pushed ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of Mongo Santamaria's best albums from the 70s – and one of his funkiest too! The record's got a sweet electric groove that sounds mighty nice next to the Latin jazz arrangements on the set – almost in the feel of some of Candido's funky work from the time, but possibly even ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the grooviest albums that Clare Fischer ever recorded – featuring his electric Latin fusion group Salsa Picante, fronted by a two-man/two-woman vocal quartet who give the album kind of a "Brasil 66 meets Singers Unlimited" kind of sound! Fisher is on Fender Rhodes, and the ... LP, Vinyl record album
