Getting Out

CD (Item 502542) Ecco Chamber (Austria), 2004 — Condition: Used
Just Sold Out!

CD

❔

Slyly funky grooves from Quant – downtempo with a difference – the difference being that things are pretty darn soulful overall, with enough jazzy imagination to keep things sounding fresh throughout! About half the tracks feature lead vocals by a variety of singers – done in a style that's never too over the top, and which mixes nicely with the grooves – in a mode that's reminiscent of some of the best soundsystem work from London in recent years. A surprising treat – with tracks that include "Come & Go", "Babu", "Miracle Man", "Never Thought That", "Getting Up", "Get Off My Line", "Tryin", and "Self Control".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Shade of Blue
Ecco Chamber (Austria), 2003. Used
Lots of warm bass, snapping drums, and smooth keyboards – handled with a depth and difference that sets this one out a bit more from the usual downtempo crowd. There's some vocals from track to track that kind of drift and sift in the mix – almost scatting or vocalese, but not quite. ... CD

Eli Goulart e Banda do Mato

Bicho Do Mato
Unique (Germany), 2001. Used
A wonderful bit of Brazilian soul – featuring vocals by Eli Goulart, a great singer with a style that reminds us a bit of Jon Lucien, touched with modes of some of the samba soul 70s generation! The album was recorded in Germany – but has jazzy backings that are perfectly in the mode ... CD

Phonorama

Retrology
Funky Juice (Italy), 2007. Used
Nothing too "retro" about this set, despite the title – and instead, the album's a really fresh batch of Brazilian-influenced grooves – served up with a fair bit of classic instrumentation in the mix, but also some of the leaner, more contemporary styles coming out of Italy in ... CD

Cha Fe
Rambling (Japan), 2003. Used
An organic set of grooves that's beyond description – almost a blend of ethnographic influences and modern electronics – done in a way that's not kitschy or corny, but which really respects its sources, and has a profound feel for music in a truly global sense. The set's got a total of ... CD

Hub Up
Stride (Japan), 2006. Used
A beautiful tribute to the electric side of trumpeter Freddie Hubbard – done by Jukka Eskola from Five Corners Quintet, in a mode that almost beats some of Freddie's classic work for CTI! The setting here is spare and simple – trumpet from Jukka, tenor from Timo Lassey, and bass, drums ... CD
