Great work from this Brazilian percussion genius – moving here to a whole new level! Dom's working here with a cast of all-stars that includes pianist Luciano Alves, vocalist Ithamara Koorax, guitarist Dorival Caymmi, keyboardist Eumir Deodato, and saxophonist Jose Carlos Ramos. The core of the set is similar to Dom's records of the 70s – but there's also a number of tracks that kick in with a remix feel, pumping up the beats with an abstract vibe that's going for the current crossover crowd, and which is sure to push the album onto whole new audiences. Titles include "Groovystation", "Bit Box", "Blue Bossa", "Lake Of Perseverance", "House Carnival", "Mas Que Nada", "Naima", "Sambao", and "Eric's Stuff".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Angelo Noce Santoro

For You
ANS/Pharaway Sounds (Spain), 1979. Used

Ana Caram

Sunflower Time
Universal (Brazil), 1996. Used
A great introduction to the music of Ana Caram – an early session recorded both in London and Brazil – with all the great mix of modes that might imply! The album's breathy and bossa in some spots, but full and jazzy in others – and Ana's equally at home in both settings! Some ... CD

Essential Brazilian rock from the 70s! A classic album by Maysa – one of Brazil's most evocative vocalists of the 60s, recorded here in a lovely session of bossa tunes that begins with her stunning reading of "O Barquinho"! There's a core jazz group backing Maysa up – and strings and larger orchestrations drift ... CD
Luaka Bop, 1989. Used
The first-ever record in the Luaka Bop legacy – a massive collection of Brazilian grooves that still serves as one of the best introductions to the music we can think of! Most of the artists here are the bigger names of the MPB generation of the 70s – but many are still very under-repre ... CD

Peven Everett

Dear Europe
Studio Confession, 2008. Used
Peven Everett sends a letter out to his huge European fan base – but the sound here is every bit as great as his other Chicago-crafted grooves! The rhythms are a bit upbeat this time around – not really house, but a warmly flowing sort of style – that trance-like mode that Peven ... CD
