Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Aaltonen/Kullhammar/Heikinheimo/Meaas Svendsen

Father, Sons, & The Junnu
Moserobie (Sweden), 2020. Used
A really great meeting of Finnish jazz generations – in which the legendary reedman Juhani Aaltonen is definitely the father, supported here with work by three younger musicians who might qualify as his musical sons! Aaltonen is amazing – every bit as compelling as on his famous ... CD

Wes Montgomery/Clark Terry

Straight No Chaser (Japanese pressing)
Bandstand (Japan), 1965. Used

Prestige (Japan), Late 40s/Early 50s. Used
One of the best-ever documents of the young genius of tenorist Wardell Gray – exactly the kind of music that shows why he was one of the biggest and best of the bop saxophonists – before he was taken away from us all too soon! The material here was originally issued on 78s or 45s, and ... CD

Larry Young

Of Love & Peace
Blue Note (UK), 1966. Used
The most free-thinking Larry Young album of the 60s – and that's saying a lot, considering the rest of his work! The session's quite an unusual one – with two drummers in the group, grounding a sextet that features Larry on organ, James Spaulding on alto and flute, Herbert Morgan on ... CD

Johnny Coles

Warm Sound
Epic (Japan), 1961. Used
One of the few albums ever cut as a leader by trumpeter Johnny Coles – a player who's probably best known to the world for his work with Charles Mingus, or for his other 60s session on Blue Note! This album's quite different than both of those aspects of Johnny's career – and has him ... CD
BYG/Charly (UK), 1969. Used Gatefold
The Art Ensemble at the height of their powers – really letting loose on the Parisian scene of the late 60s, where they found a great audience for all the new ideas they'd been brewing up back home! The album's definitely one that has the group's unique ethos coming into focus – that ... CD

Michael Hudson-Casanova

Animus
Passerine, 2023. Used
Michael Hudson Casanova is a saxophonist, but the sound of the record draws equally strongly from the contributions of Erik Skov's guitar – a player whose sense of color is balanced wonderfully by the sharper edges of the saxophone – then given some nice structure through the work on ... CD

David Sanborn

Taking Off
Warner/Collectors Choice, 1975. Used
The fantastic first album from David Sanborn – a lot more than you might expect if you only know him from later years! Sure, the record's tight – and yes, Sanborn was a crossover player from the start – but there's some great moments here, and the whole thing's got a lot more of ... CD
