Chamber Music By The Stan Getz Quintet (10 inch LP)

LP (Item 499202) Roost, Early 50s — Condition: Very Good+
One of Stan's earliest sides as a leader – recorded for Roost Records in the early 50s, and a beautiful 10" album! Players include Jimmy Raney on guitar, Horace Silver on piano, and Tommy Potter on bass – and titles include "Yvette", "Wildwood", "Lullaby Of Birdland", "Melody Express", "Potter's Luck", "Penny", and "These Foolish Things".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(A very nice clean original copy! Cover has very light wear, but no splits – back has some light staining, and two small rips. Vinyl is great.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Beautiful early bop material by Getz – recorded at Storyville with a crack little combo that includes Al Haig on piano and Jimmy Raney on guitar. Johnny Smith Foursome
Roost, Mid 50s. Near Mint-
An overlooked 50s set from guitarist Johnny Smith – one that features a piano added into his trio, hence the "foursome" in the title! The pianist here is Bob Pancoast, who has a fluid, sometimes gentle touch on the keys – one that spins out Smith's guitar a bit more than ... LP, Vinyl record album
