Post Card

LP (Item 497287) Apple, 1969 — Condition: Very Good
The sweet, lovely and lush full length debut of Mary Hopkin for Apple Records! Mary's vocals are fragile and sweet, and Paul McCartney's production frames it like a pillow on the softer tunes – with light bits of acoustic guitar – and makes her sound like the queen of all natural on the more grandly orchestrated tracks. 15 tracks on the original album, including "Those Were The Days", "Lord Of the Reedy River", "Love Is The Sweetest Thing", "The Puppy Song", "Inchworm", "Young Love", "The Game", "Someone To Watch Over Me" and more.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Columbia, 1968. Very Good
One of the greatest live albums ever, and probably THE best album Johnny Cash ever recorded! In 1969 Cash had more angst than you could shake a stick at – he just kicked drugs, and he hadn't had a big hit in years, so his respectful and thoughtful empathy for the audience of inmates not only ... Iris DeMent

Infamous Angel
Philo, 1992. Near Mint- Gatefold
The instant-classic debut of Iris DeMent – a record that came out in the 90s, but which has a classic country vibe that not only lives up to DeMent's hardscrabble roots, but which also really blows away any sort of retro or "alt" attempts to hit territory like this at the time! ... Woody Guthrie

Struggle
Folkways, 1976. Near Mint-
Folk legend Woody Guthrie was no stranger to struggle – which is the subject highlighted in most of these tunes – pulled together in the shape of this album, which offered a great counterpoint to the Bicentennial madness in America when it was released in 1976! The titles of the songs ... LP, Vinyl record album
American, 2010. Near Mint-
The sixth volume of American Recordings from Johnny Cash – recorded in the months between June's & Johnny's passing – produced by an increasingly reverent Rick Rubin and put together with care and consideration. Cash sounds justifiably weary on these late recordings, with songs ... LP, Vinyl record album

Fairport Convention

Angel Delight (Island)
Island (UK), 1971. Very Good+ Gatefold
Fairport Convention are down to a quartet here, but still sounds fantastic – with Simon Nicol on guitar and dulcimer, Dave Pegg on bass and violin, Dave Swarbrick on mandolin and violin, and Dave Mattacks on drums and piano – and vocals from all members of the group. LP, Vinyl record album
Columbia, 1964. Very Good-
Bob Dylan's fourth record, and close runner up to Freewheelin' as the masterpiece of this early stage of his career. While the overly arch Times They Are A Changin' pretty much stood as the cornerstone of classifiable folk rock at the time, Another Side is just that. Dense, elliptical, and ...
