Baroque Beatles Book

LP (Item 497064) Elektra, 1965 — Condition: Very Good+
One of the weirdest Beatle-related projects of the 60s – and one of the most abstract, as well! The album's got kind of an odd concept – in that it purports to be a rediscovery of rare baroque music roots of famous Beatle tunes by Lennon & McCartney – recorded with offbeat arrangements done by Joshua Rifkin. Unlike other simple cover albums of the time, Rifkin's music here really changes up the tunes strongly – moving the rockers into complicated orchestral territory with lots of flourishes on the woodwinds and strings – played here by the "Baroque Ensemble Of The Merseyside Kammermusikgesellschaft" – clearly a studio group with a good sense of humor! The album includes versions of "Eight Days A Week", "I Want To Hold Your Hand", "Ticket To Ride", "Hold Me Tight", "Things We Said Today", and "Help".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has light wear.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

United Artists, 1968. Near Mint-
One of the few instrumental albums ever recorded by George Martin – best known as the producer for The Beatles during the 60s, but a fab talent on his own!
