Goin' Places (picture disc)

LP (Item 494816) Philadelphia International, 1977 — Condition: Near Mint-
Originally: 24.99
The second collaboration between the Jacksons and the Gamble & Huff production team for Philly International – and a nice little sleeper that we like more and more over the years! Like the preceding album from the team, the pairing's a great one – and the Jacksons' pop soul harmonies match up very nicely with the full, rich sound of the Philly groove! Titles include "Music's Takin' Over", "Goin' Places", "Different Kind Of Lady", "Even Though You're Gone", "Jump For Joy", "Heaven Knows I Love You, Girl", "Man Of War", "Do What You Wanna", and "Find Me A Girl".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(In the maroon die-cut cover, with some ring and edge wear.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Victory
Epic, 1984. Very Good+ Gatefold
Michael Jackson's last album with his famous family – a set of electric 80s soul that's a bit different than Jackson's well-known solo work! In a way, the later Jacksons albums almost feel like a place where Michael can try out some ideas that don't fit as tightly into the overall sound of ... LP, Vinyl record album

O'Jays

Survival
Philadelphia International, 1975. Very Good+
Heady sounds from The O'Jays – a set that continues the more righteous side of the style they developed on early 70s Philadelphia International – a great mix of modes that sometimes has the trio sharing some of the political spirit of The Temptations with Norman Whitfield, and sometimes ... Teddy Pendergrass

Teddy
Philadelphia International, 1979. Very Good+
Proof that Teddy Pendergrass was a fantastic solo act – and some of the most godlike work that he ever recorded! Avco, 1971. Very Good+
A masterpiece of harmony soul – one of THE all-time greats of the genre, and a lasting treasure from The Stylistics! Voices Of East Harlem
Just Sunshine, 1973. Very Good Gatefold
A masterpiece of sweet group soul! Stylistics

Rockin' Roll Baby
Avco, 1973. Very Good+
The third album by The Stylistics – and a set that's still very much in the high-harmony territory of their first two classics! David T Walker

Plum Happy
Zea, 1970. Very Good+ Gatefold
One of the most badass records ever issued by funky guitarist David T Walker – a set that's got a looser, freer vibe than some of his other albums – and which puts Walker in territory next to Shuggie Otis and Phil Upchurch from the same time in their careers! The set's equal parts jazz ... LP, Vinyl record album

Givin' It Back
T Neck, 1971. Very Good+ Gatefold
A very weird, but very beautiful album by the Isleys – one in which they move into a folksy rock groove, and play acoustic guitars in long spiralling soulful versions of some of their favorite rock hits! Sweet Beginnings
Columbia, 1977. Very Good+
