Faithful Friends

LP (Item 494752) Atco, 1969 — Condition: Sealed

Only a small group, but one who play with the sense of fullness you'd guess from the "ensemble" in their name! The music here is a blend of contemporary late 60s rock with some more advance elements – bits of oboe and cello mixed in with the guitars and keyboards, used in ways that are subtle but really effective – almost giving the feel of a much larger backing behind the group. Some tracks are rootsy and stripped down, but many others have a full and spacious sort of quality – one that hints at much greater ambitions in the group, and which have them not content to just rehash regular rock and roll modes. Titles include "Kite Song", "Wait Until Tomorrow", "Sing Lady Sing", "Nel Cox", "Thinking Of Mary", "Aria", "Lazy Man", "Brandenburg", and "I'm Too Busy".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Still sealed! Cover has a cutout mark.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Sublime sounds from The Bee Gees – a near-perfect bit of 60s pop, and a record that would set the scene for so many others to come! Peter Gabriel 1 – Car
Atco, 1977. Near Mint-
The first solo set from Peter Gabriel – and a record that was quite a surprise upon initial release – kind of a stripped-down variant of the energy that Gabriel brought to his early work with Genesis, presented in a nicely lean way that allowed for all the best focus on his key ideas! ... An album of surprising brilliance – recorded late in the career of Yes, but one of the group's biggest hits ever! Out of the wreckage of Cream came some very hip grooves! Ginger Baker was the hippest of the group's 3 members – and although he's often credited by soul fans for his work with Fela, he should also get hats off for his work with the group Air Force. Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett certainly have some heavy friends here – a stunning host of guest help on the record, who make the whole thing come together with a sweet blend of southern rock and soul! Man and machine – a perfect summation of the Kraftwerk genius, delivered perfectly on this classic late 70s set!
